This little business of mine was once a part-time hobby while I worked through college way back in 2015. Then it became a side-hustle while working in public schools back in 2018. As the years went on, I grew more and more in love with this business. Getting to capture some of the best moments in people’s lives. It’s been such an amazing journey. I’ve been building this business from the ground up, little by little, since May of 2018. Through a lot of craziness in life, the joy photography brought me was always a constant.
Then my primary income of around 30-ish hours a week was cut to 17 and then eventually to zero. We had seen it coming but still weren’t prepared. I didn’t know it then, but this was the push I needed. It was the freedom I needed.
We crunched the numbers and we tightened our wallets. I used my newfound free-time and dove headfirst into everything photography. And it worked. I had consistent inquiries and bookings. My business had its first 5-figure year AND the first year we could actually afford to pay ourselves more than a couple hundred dollars. This labor of love became a real income for us.
As scared as I am and as crazy as it sounds, that push led me to officially being able to devote my full-time and effort to this business and have it support us financially.
I am officially a full-time photographer!!
As I eagerly await all of the exciting adventures that 2024 had for me, I am so blessed for all of the love and support for this business. Going full-time wouldn’t have been possible without such amazing couples, families, and people.
To everyone who has been in front of my camera. To everyone who has supported from afar. From the very bottom of my heart.
Thank you.
